WAVE BASIN

A 29.5x28.0x1.6 m wave basin can be used to perform physical model tests in a controlled environment, under operational and extreme wave conditions.

3D WAVE GENERATION

Long and short crested waves can be generated by 56 piston-type wave paddles, which are controlled by PC. The paddles are provided by an active wave-absorbing system to reduce the effect of waves reflected from the model structures and can generate non-repeating random sea-states to any required spectral form (e.g. JONSWAP, Pierson Moskowitz, or user-defined forms - including bimodal spectra). The paddles also have a wave steering function that allows to generate waves obliquely (+/- 20°). Regular waves of up to H = 0.50 m and T = 2.2 s and irregular waves of up to Hs = 0.25 m and Tp = 2.2 s can be generated in water depths of up to 1.0 m. The data acquisition software controls and analyses data from the available wave gauges and other measuring instruments.
